CEZA’s Administrator and Chief Executive Officer, Secretary Jaime R. Escaño had another round of engagements on November 14 and 15, 2022 in Sta. Ana, Cagayan Special Economic Zone and Freeport (CSEZFP), this time with the officials from the Sta. Ana Local Government Unit (LGU), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), and Taiwanese and Chinese potential investors.
The first engagement involved meeting the Sta. Ana LGU on November 14, 2022 and was attended by Vice Mayor Catherine J. Ladrido and the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) members. Sec. Escaño presented the updated plans and programs of CEZA to carry out its corporate mandates.
The second engagement on the same day involved meeting a potential Taiwanese investor. The topics of discussion involved the possibility of opening a Science park in the Zone where computer chips could be manufactured. The potential investor also explored the possibility of developing Port Irene operations.
On November 15, 2022, the CEZA team met the DOST team who presented the specific plans of the Agency to boost economic growth. With the theme, “Journey to Radiant Economy” (JRE), the said team also discussed and introduced possible innovative and sustainable industries in the CSEZFP. One highlight of the presentation was the Hybrid Electric Road Train (HERT). CEZA and DOST are currently discussing the project in more details to make it come into reality. Once materialized, this would be a very promising and significant CEZA-DOST project that would surely put the Cagayan Valley Region in a higher level in terms of trading and passenger movement. Sec. Escaño expressed his appreciation and acknowledgment to DOST for its support and providing collaborative undertakings that supplement both of the agencies’ mandates.
Through the leadership of Sec. Escaño, CEZA is continually strengthening old and establishing new public and private partnerships to revitalize the economy, in response to the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. These efforts are also aimed towards the Authority’s mission and vision to attract and establish sustainable industries and inclusive growth in the Zone. #SaCEZAKabahagiKa
